Getting and being healthy is not an easy thing these days. With so much information, much of it conflicting, it can be super confusing to know what to do.
What I have learned in my 8 year quest to tackle health issues with healthy eating and living is, do your research! Also, that if it’s logical or resonates with common sense, it is typically worth trying. I also keep a team of health professionals, western medical docs and alternative and regenerative medicine practitioners, around me. The following videos have been shared by my various health practitioners along the way.
If you have (or ever have had) belly fat (aka muffin top), extra fat stores around the hips, thinning hair, fibroid cysts, adult acne, fertility issues or insulin issues the following videos are for you. If you don’t have, or never have had, any of these issues, these videos will also provide simple, plain language explanations about how your body processes food and uses hormones.
In this first video, Dr. Nadia Pateguana and Dr. Fung explain in simple terms (and via a good story) what PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome are and how they correlate.
In the second video, Dr. Jason Fung, Toronto-based nephrologist and a world leading expert in intermittent fasting and low-carb diets, takes a deep dive into how our bodies actually process foods and how intermittent fasting works.
Enjoy!!

Dr. Nadia Pateguana & Dr. Jason Fung - 'Polycystic Ovary Syndrome' Video
In this video, Dr. Nadia shares her personal story and how she “accidentally” discovered a very effective treatment for PCOS and its associated conditions, with diet! If you have ever struggled with stubborn fat, adult acne, hair overgrowth or hair thinning, irregular menstrual cycles (too heavy, too light or skipping), or cysts and fibroids, this video is a must watch. If you are past the childbearing age but had those symptoms, it is possible you are still living with the metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance that often comes with PCOS.
Dr. Nadia Pateguana was born in Mozambique and raised in Canada where she completed her studies. She graduated from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004 and also has a Degree in Honours Biology from McMaster University.
She currently, and proudly, works as a Dietary Educator with Dr. Jason Fung and Megan Ramos at the Intensive Dietary Management Program. Her special focus is on helping women with PCOS overcome infertility through dietary modifications.
This video is 33 minutes.

Dr. Jason Fung: Therapeutic Fasting
