We use the term embodiment to refer to the whole body-mind-spirit experience of living, and in our case specifically, as a women (or feminine identified person).
On last Friday's Goddess Talk, we discussed our experiences of sex at different phases of living as girls and women. Sex is a fundamental experience of being a human being. It has the potential to engage us at every sensory and emotional level AND we learn almost NOTHING about it growing up.
In addition to little to no knowledge, many of us grew up with mixed messages about the intersection between relationship and the act of sex itself. Think "no sex outside of marriage" crashing headlong into the 60's and 70's sex, drugs and rock-n-roll mentality.
Women began to claim the right to enjoy and have sex in the ways men had for centuries. But for most of us, these shifts and changes in the attitudes about sex still had little to no education about sex or relationship for that matter.
In the video we share with you today, you will learn about the difference it makes when women open up and share honestly about their experiences of sex and all that comes with it ... or not.
As we open up about our experiences regarding sex, we move more fully into the whole embodiment of being a woman. Enjoy!!
This Week's Goddess Practice
Reclaiming Female Sexual Desire
Watch researcher Pamela Joy's TEDx talk about her struggles with desire for sex.
"After a decade-and-a-half at Apple and Facebook, Pamela left her career in high tech to founded Down To There to share her real-life stories of challenges and successes around sexuality in her marriage."
"Pamela is also passionate about raising awareness within the medical and mental health communities about the positive impact of peer support on female sexual health, recently presenting her research on this topic at the 2018 International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health conference."
Have at least one conversation with someone (girlfriend, partner, spouse) about SEX! Your don't have to go into deep details, just start with talking about the subject. You can explore:
- What messages did you get about sex as a girl?
- What were the message in your young womanhood?
- How do you see these messages impacted you?
The video (13m) provides lots of great ideas to open up discussions into this fundamental aspect of living.
