We Learned Some Stuff!

Wow, what a conversation we had on Saturday!

We focused on our sexuality and sexual health education, what was missing, and what we didn’t know was missing. There seems to be a LOT that we just don’t know.

Our official, unofficial book club selection for this quarter, while we are exploring sex, is the book, Come as You Are: Revised and Updated: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life, by Emily Nagoski. Probably the best overall takeaway from the book is that everything (except pain) is normal. Period!

Turns out for most women, context, safety and how we feel about everything, including our bodies and the way sex works for us, is paramount to the experience of a fulfilling sex life.

Saturday's inquiry was facilitated by Megan Riley. We were surprised and delighted to learn that, yes, there are 7 types of orgasms. Knowing our bodies and what they are capable of is definitely the starting point to a great sex life (with or without a partner) and to the health benefits of orgasms.

Another thing Megan introduced us to was Yoni Eggs, they to add to our vaginal health and function and therefore our sexual experience.

Important NOTE: If you want to experiment with the Yoni Eggs, don’t buy them from just anywhere, low quality eggs are NOT the way to go. The site, blissyonieggs.com is a good place to purchase high quality eggs.

Something that has come up as we explore this topic, is prior sexual traumas. This can make learning more about sex, and discussing it in general, uncomfortable or confronting. Anne recommended a great book to include in your healing journey called The Heart of Trauma: Healing the Embodied Brain in the Context of Relationships (Norton Series on Interpersonal Neurobiology) by Bonnie Badenoch. Check it out.

The best part of the entire meeting was listening to, and participating with, our community of gals being vulnerable, open and inquisitive about how to make this vital and healthy part of life… well, part of life.

Below are the recordings from the meeting on Saturday...

As promised in the meeting, here is a link to the slides Megan used!

  • Get the Come As You Are book
  • Investigate the Yoni Eggs
  • Learn something you have always wanted to know
  • Learn about all the erogenous zones.

For FUN, check out this 3 minute clip from a Friend's episode on erogenous zones for women!
