The kick off of the 1st quarter’s HOT topic was fantastic! As women gathered in last week's Goddess Talk, they shared how they got or did not get sex education as young women.

We opened the inquiry asking how this education laid a foundation for our lives and for our relationships and how we were affected by it. We will be deepening this whole inquiry in the coming weeks and in particular in this month's Members Session on Saturday.

One aspect of Sex Ed that we could all agree is completely missing, in the traditional educational teachings on the subject, is the connection of this subject to pleasure. For most women, their freedom with the subject matter is correlated with their freedom to express, create and experience pleasure, whether sexual or not.

Separating and untangling pleasure from sex opens up the experience of pleasure in all kinds of new ways. Sex for sure can (and should) be pleasurable, however, our ability to experience deep pleasure is not tied only to sex.

So, this week we invite you to ponder the idea of pleasure. How it is an expression of, and is entangled with, the act of sex and how it can be experienced totally separate from it.

In the movie, Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson) is a 55-year-old widow who is yearning for some adventure in her life now that she has lost her husband and her children are grown up, she also wants to have some connection with other people, plus along the way she would like to have some really good sex and be able to orgasm for the very first time!

There is a lot more to the movie, as there often is a lot more to 'just sex', so it is a good way to start those thoughts and feelings coming to the surface 🙂
