The Third Eye Chakra

We had such a great meeting on Saturday with the Goddess Living Members’ Community. We continued our open inquiries exploring the ancient Indian system for wellness and this month we took a look at the 6th (Ajna) Chakra (aka The Third Eye).

Did you know, the Chakra system started in India between 1500 and 500 BC?! The word is defined as a spinning disk or wheel; a chakra on the human body is a wheel of energy that runs along the spine.

As our medical knowledge has expanded, our understanding of the Chakra system has as well. For example, the Vagus Nerve, which is the center of our nervous system, follows the exact same path as the core Chakra System.

This 6th chakra, (Sanskrit name Ajna, pronounced 'Agya'), is the chakra of intuition, self-realization, inspiration and imagination. The energy of this chakra allows us to see and understand the inner and outer worlds, hence the English name... The Third Eye.

When open, the third eye chakra connects us to the present moment and can deepen spiritual connections as well as provide wisdom and insight.

Here are some basics about the 6th or Third Eye Chakra

  • Affirmations for this Chakra include: I see my truth. I know more than I think.
  • It is associated with light
  • The color related to it is Indigo
  • Crystals and stones that may help balance this Chakra include: purple and violet crystals, Amethyst, Purple Sapphire, Kyanite and Labradorite.

This week's Practice

Developing Your Intuition

Practice turning up the volume on those little messages you get … You know, those simple clear messages you get from time to time and somewhere, deep inside, you feel it… pay attention!

Journal about them and see if you can begin to notice what you are doing right before the intuitive message. This can promote the strengthening of your ability to ask for, and get, answers at will.

Who knows, you may see that you are WAY more intuitive than you thought!
