As a community of women who are committed to “empowering each other, and elevating the value of the feminine and diversity in our culture”, we could not ignore the impact of Friday’s SCOTUS decision on Roe v Wade.
Like many of you, even though we knew it was coming, Friday was a tough day. We have young women in our community who feel a real sense of foreboding and despair about their future. Most of us are confused and angry that a right we thought was settled is not so settled.
We are all wondering … what will come next?
All of it is very anxiety inducing. In this week’s members email we share a bunch of information and actions that can be taken.
HOWEVER we also recognize that feeling the feelings matters. Mourning is an important aspect of healthy living. If we only jump to action and don’t take the time to acknowledge and integrate the emotional impact it will come back to bite us in our health later!
For this reason we picked a practice this week that is designed to address anxiety and the nervous system in general.
This Week's Practice
Calm the Vagus Nerve
The Vagus nerve is the body’s longest cranial nerve and stretches all the way from the brain to the large intestine. The word “vagus” means “to wander” in Latin, and this nerve essentially wanders throughout the body, connecting the brain, heart, lungs, gut, and intestines.
Anxiety shows up in all these parts of our body. Calming this nerve quiets the “nervous” reaction the body is having when we get upset or experience stress.
This week, READ the following article and try one or two of these natural methods for calming and quieting your Vagus Nerve.
Goddess Talks
We planned last Friday’s talk to be a look at women's rights from a legal perspective. Little did we know how relevant and important it would be to have the brilliant lawyers in our group on hand to answer questions and offer some sage advice about where we go from here.
There was MUCH said, and we can't share it all here and give away key legal strategies for the future. 😉 But, we are sharing a short video snippet featuring Beth as she explains the Originalist interpretation of the Constitution, which is the stated foundation for the ruling.
Overturning Roe v. Wade... Now What?
You may be wondering... What can I do?
Here is a post that is chock full of information, from the original SCOTUS decision and the dissent to a whole variety of actions we can take right now and in the future.
We will continue to add to it this post as new information and new actions to take come to light.
